My name is Gina Smith and I am an international History teacher currently based in Ethiopia and previously in China and the United States. I have taught IB History, IB Theory of Knowledge, AP Modern World History, IGCSE History, and MYP I&S. I have held the position of I&S Head of Department, Model United Nations Director, and have supervised multiple Extended Essays, Personal Projects, Community Projects, and Week Without Walls expeditions.

I highly value the concept of teachers being lifelong learners. As a result, I have arranged and implemented in-house workshops on integrating TOK metacognition into IB group subjects, teaching social-emotional regulation to improve classroom management, and embedding technology into daily pedagogy.
I have also collaborated with College Counselling Departments to assist our students with applications to foreign universities. Since I grew up in an international school in South Korea, sat IB Diploma and IGCSE exams, and applied to study in the United States, I understand the process that goes into American college applications from an international student’s perspective.
